What This Does

Canva's built-in AI tools generate marketing copy and destination imagery directly inside the design tool you already use — so you can create a promotional flyer, social media graphic, or email header with AI-written text and AI-generated visuals without leaving Canva.

Before You Start

  • You have a Canva account (free tier includes Magic Write with limited uses; Canva Pro for unlimited)
  • You're logged in at canva.com
  • You know what promotion or destination you want to feature

Steps

1. Choose your template

Click Create a design → Search "travel" in the template search. Select a template that fits your purpose: social media post (1080x1080px), promotional flyer (8.5x11), Instagram story, or email header. Travel-specific templates are available under "Travel & Tourism."

2. Find Magic Write

Click on a text element in your design (headline or body copy). Look for the purple sparkle icon that appears in the text toolbar or right-click the text block. Click it to open Magic Write. Alternatively, click the Apps tab in the left sidebar and search for "Magic Write."

3. Generate your promotional copy

In the Magic Write box, describe what you want written:

"Write a punchy 15-word headline for a promotion: 7-night Caribbean cruise from Miami, save $500 per couple, book by March 31."

Or for body text: "Write 3 sentences promoting a honeymoon package to Santorini — romantic, luxurious, Mediterranean atmosphere. Mention I'm a travel advisor who handles all the details."

Click Generate and Magic Write produces the text. Insert it into your design.

4. Generate or find destination imagery

If you need an image: in the left sidebar, click AppsText to Image. Type a scene description: "Aerial view of Santorini at sunset, Greek islands, travel photography style." Canva generates 4 image options — select the best one.

For real destination photos, use Canva's built-in library: search "[destination] travel" in the Photos section. Many are free.

5. Customize branding and export

Swap your name/logo into the template, match your brand colors, and review all AI-generated copy for accuracy. Export as PNG (social) or PDF (flyer) and share.

Real Example

Scenario: You need a Facebook promotion graphic for a cruise deal — $500 off per couple on a 7-night Caribbean cruise, book by March 31.

What you do: Open a Facebook post template → Magic Write → "Write a Facebook post promoting $500 savings on a 7-night Caribbean cruise from Miami. Book by March 31. Call to action to DM me. Tone: exciting but professional." Result: ready-to-use copy in 30 seconds. Add a cruise ship photo from the Canva library, your name and logo, and you have a complete promotional graphic.

Tips

  • Generate 3 headline variations and pick the strongest — Magic Write gives different results each time you generate.
  • For Instagram, use Canva Stories templates for vertical content that performs better than square posts in Stories.
  • Save your branded template (with your logo and colors) as a Canva "Brand Template" so every new graphic starts with your branding pre-applied.
