What This Does

Canva's Magic Write AI generates destination captions, travel tips, and marketing copy directly inside your design tool — so you write the text and build the visual in one place. For travel advisors, this means producing Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest content without switching between a dozen apps.

Before You Start

  • You have a Canva account (free account works for Magic Write)
  • You're logged into canva.com
  • You have destination photos from FAM trips, client trips (with permission), or supplier libraries ready to upload

Steps

1. Find the AI feature

  1. Open Canva at canva.com and click Create a design
  2. Select Instagram Post (1080×1080 square) or Instagram Story (vertical 1080×1920)
  3. Search templates for "travel," "destination," or "vacation" and pick a template with a large hero image area
  4. Click on any text block in the template
  5. Look for the Magic Write icon (a sparkle/star) in the text toolbar, or click Apps in the left sidebar → search "Magic Write"

2. Generate destination captions in bulk

  1. Open the Magic Write panel
  2. Type a batch caption request:
    • "Write 5 Instagram captions for photos from a trip to [destination]. Tone: aspirational, insider knowledge. Each 2-3 sentences. Vary the angles: 1) a hidden gem tip, 2) food-focused, 3) a question to spark comments, 4) why I keep sending clients here, 5) a planning tip. End each with one hashtag."
  3. Click Generate and review the 5 options
  4. Save them to a Notes doc or Google Sheet organized by week

3. Build your posts

  1. For each caption, open a duplicate of your template (right-click → Duplicate in the Pages panel)
  2. Replace the background image (click image → Replace → upload from your photo library)
  3. Click on the text block and paste your chosen caption
  4. Adjust text color if needed for readability against the photo
  5. Add your logo in a corner (upload via Uploads in the left sidebar)

4. Download and schedule

  1. Click ShareDownloadPNG → select All Pages to download all posts at once
  2. Upload to Meta Business Suite (free for Facebook + Instagram scheduling) or directly to Instagram

Real Example

Scenario: You just returned from a FAM trip to Greece and have 20 photos from different islands. You want to post consistently for the next month without spending 30 minutes writing captions each time.

What you type: "Write 8 Instagram captions for photos from a Greece FAM trip — Santorini, Crete, and Athens. Vary: hidden gems, food scene, best time to visit, why it's more than just blue domes, sailing day trip, local market experience, Athens neighborhood beyond Plaka, off-season advantage."

What you get: 8 distinct, ready-to-post captions in 30 seconds. Pair with your FAM photos and schedule a month of Greece content in 20 minutes.

Tips

  • Build a content calendar in Google Sheets: columns for Date, Platform, Photo, Caption, Status — fill in AI captions from batch generation sessions and check them off as they post
  • For Stories, use the vertical template (1080×1920) and add a "DM me for details" sticker to generate direct messages from interested followers
  • If you specialize in a specific destination, create a branded Canva template (with your logo, brand colors, and consistent font) and reuse it for all posts in that destination category
