Use Perplexity for Real-Time Destination Research

2. Register with your email or Google account
3. Once logged in, you'll see a simple search bar interface — it works like a search engine that reads the results for you and summarizes them with citations

What makes Perplexity different from ChatGPT or Claude: Perplexity searches the web in real time and cites its sources in the answer. This matters enormously for travel research — visa requirements, entry restrictions, and health advisories change frequently, and ChatGPT's training data can be months old.

Perplexity excels at questions with specific, current answers:

Good Perplexity questions:

• "Current visa requirements for US citizens visiting [country] in 2025"
• "Do US citizens need a visa for [country]? What's the passport validity requirement?"
• "Latest entry requirements for [country] — health, vaccination, registration?"
• "Best time to visit [destination] by weather and avoiding crowds"
• "Is it safe to travel to [country/region] right now? US State Department advisory?"
• "[Country] tipping customs — what's expected and what's insulting?"
• "New hotel openings in [destination] 2025"
• "What airlines fly direct to [destination] from major US cities?"

Questions better suited to ChatGPT/Claude (general knowledge, doesn't need to be current):

1. Go to perplexity.ai
2. In the search bar, type: "Current visa requirements for US citizens traveling to [destination] in 2025 — do we need a visa, passport validity requirement, any health entry requirements, and how long can we stay?"
3. Press Enter — Perplexity returns a structured answer with citations from official government sites, embassy pages, and travel news sources
4. Scroll through the citations at the bottom to verify the sources — always check that key visa information came from an official government or embassy source, not just a travel blog

What you should see: A structured answer with the visa status (required / not required / e-visa), passport validity requirements, any health requirements, and the maximum stay length — all cited.

1. Create a Google Doc called "Destination Research Templates"
2. For each of your top 5 specialties, write a saved Perplexity prompt you can run quickly:

   • Italy: "Current entry requirements for US citizens in Italy 2025, best months to visit by region, any new ETIAS requirements?"
   • Japan: "Current visa status Japan for US citizens 2025, tourist registration requirements, any seasonal travel advisories?"
   • Morocco: "Entry requirements Morocco US citizens 2025, recommended vaccinations, any current safety advisories?"
3. Run these prompts monthly to catch any changes before they affect client trips

For visa and entry information especially:

1. After Perplexity gives you an answer, click through to the official sources (embassy website, travel.state.gov) to verify
2. For clients: share the Perplexity summary + a link to the official source — you look thorough and they can verify themselves
3. Note the date you researched: "Entry requirements verified [date] — please re-check 30 days before travel"
